Stuffed olive cookie jar

I'm a fan of the Netflix show "Blown Away"https://www.netflix.com/title/80215147

Making a big olive was a challenge for 1 of the contestants. That got me thinking about making this. Thank you Netflix.

Building the body in 2 sections, to be joined later, was the best way I thought to do it. I wanted it to have a lean, like it rolled off the counter and got stuck when it hit the floor.

This olive taught me a lot about how to do it better next time.

I used all of my tricks on this one.

I like using Aspen, from Menards. It takes threads very well when segmented.

I tried cutting threads along the length of a cylinder, but the wood is too soft for that.

My first time using hide glue. I like it.

171 pieces. Aspen. Acrylic paints, dead flat lacquer spray.

Whoaaa! That's too tempting to have around! I could just see that filled with scrump-dilly-ishish Sicilian Olives 😋
Really cool!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Great idea, better execution of the idea.   Neat.

Great work Hairy!
Great place to hide cookies too, who'da ever think to search inside a giant olive?
It's good to see the master of disguise back at it! Nice job!
Thanks!!   Master of disguise, I like that. Do I have to get a cape and a mask ?

Another cool and interesting build Hairy. Do you have one of those pricey threading tools or the kind done with hand held tools. I'm always interested how others produce threads.

I have Robert Sorby threading tools. I made a case for them. I have 10,16 and 20 threads per inch. For the olive I used 10 TPI.  I'm no good with the tool support bar, so it stayed in the case for this project.

I have found MDF is good for practice. It's no good to use in threaded project, but it feels the same as wood chasing threads.
