Ring / Necklace Box
I just made this little ring box for my grand daughter's birthday coming up. It's made out of Pine with a special brass hinge mount. I put a blue crystal on top with blue velvet inlay on inside top and bottom. I finished with blonde shellac.

I got them from Lee valley but they don't carry those anymore but they carry these. Also I've seen them on Etsy and Ebay.

That hinge doohickey is a great idea, really simplifies the build not having to fiddle with getting a box hinge to fit onto a round box.
Seems like an endless list of possibilities for gift variations, hope you have a good stash of the mechanics!

Pottz... you're right? I thought that as well. BTW... the hinge I used is called a "circular hinge for round boxes" Google this phrase and you'll see many places to get these hinges. Here's one: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1445801586/circular-hinge-for-round-boxes-2-14

Nice looking box. Like the hinge mount and the jewel on top. . Have 3 or 4 of these hinges from some time in the past. Not from LV. I think one of the turning sites. Not sure.

Just an update.....my grand daughter got this last night. It was her 6th birthday.
She was very very pleased. So much so that while she smiled ear to ear she also had some joyful tiny tears while running over to me for a great hug!!
Truly... it's hard to say who got the better gift.
