Segmented bowl

Bowl I turned some time ago.   9 inches in diameter and 4 1/2 inches tall.   Redheart, Yellowheart, Walnut, and white veneer make up the componets of the bowl.    The pieces in the ornament rings were made first, cut at the appropriate angle and glued up to make that ring.  The white venner is used as a offset for the base.    Turned on my old Delta Mini lathe, approached its capacity of 10 inches.   Made a second one that was flatter using the same detail.    Both used often.

Beautiful bowl Ron, the decoration ring really makes this stand out as an excellent creation. I guess the lamination process is pretty much wide open the the imagination, did you preplan the outcome or was it a surprise?
I think I need to do this soon, will be interesting to see the results.
Planned out, made the details of the ornament ring first, let the balance follow.    Did a trial and error on the detail in the ornament ring.    Not to difficult but tedious.
Thanks for the comment

Beautifully done! Love the detail ring. 👍🏼

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".
