Trying to stay busy making pens

The first 2 pictures are of the same pen with an Ohio Deer Antler forestock.  If you want to have some fun, try finding an antler that has a 3" straight shaft and is minimum 5/8" square.  Then Drill it  - - -
Getting back to pens, the 3rd pen is wild cherry - front and back.  The Obvious color difference is because I FAILED to seal the wood before I started finishing with CA.  It turns out that that's OK because it already has an admirer.
The pen with the black muzzle and receiver is Koa front and rear.  It came out real close  to matching colors.
The last pen with the gold colored muzzle and receiver is curly Koa and the picture is a crappy representation of it real beauty.  Of all 4 pens, the last one outshines them by far because of the curly and the color match.
It's hard understand the color differences when the front and back pieces were taken from the same chunk of lumber.
I forgot about the last picture  -  one is Koa and the other is Purple Heart  -  can you tell which is which  ?

Nice work Dick 👍
Can't imagine working with antler that small (except for the wonderful aroma 🤠)

Butt stock shapes are spot on. Which is which? No clue! 🤔😬

Just trying to determine on your last photo as to which pen is purple heart and which is koa. Life is so full of mysteries! 😎
Nice pens, good looking.

Ron

my guess is the bottom one is purple heart, maybe because it's purple ? 🙄

OK  -  I guess I asked for it but I'm catching up to ya.  I'm not gonna tell you which is which until you clean your eyeballs
Thanks guys for looking  -  I had a lot of fun and a few mistakes but a neat learning curve
Wow! Nice work!

Hey, you don't know me, but you don't like me ... Buck Owens

Naw, just my B&W monitor I use, color is for wimps! 🧟‍♂️

Love those pens Recycle... With our no-gun laws here in Aussieland, they're the closes thing to me wreaking havoc... giving them to gun owners who no longer remember how to write... at least they can use the stock to bask the keyboard.

The stocks in your previous post inspired me to get their Starter Set... always have trouble finding that (for reference)... at least I can "collect" this post.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Nice pen, Dick. Is it a Henry ??

You remember the dot matrix printers? They tried color and they were a marketing flop.

I rest my case!
Nice pen, Dick. Is it a Henry ??
Not sure Jim - it reminds me of the old Winchester 30-30 lever action
