these were from a request from one of our salesman at work. he bought two from me at our xmas party and said he'd like a couple more. i had three kits so i just made em all and he can choose. made from deer antler. top is chrome, middle gold and bottom gun metal, my fav ! being in construction these pens are a favorite seller ! no finish just sanded and buffed. i gotta say antler is not my fav material to turn, if ya know what i mean !
working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.
Love those! I know the smell can be something awful, kinda like someone tossed some antlers into the camp fire.
Being such a small diameter, it is probably impossible to fine any horn that can maintain the ridges. Could hire Elmer to bag you a few Jackalopes for the next batch ð€
thanks guys. jim yes penn state. splint ya the antler i had was fairly large so dont get the nice live edge, or bark if you wanna call it. and it can be a challenge to drill since most has a curve. the one at the top has just a tiny amount of the outer edge left.

I've always opted for the "straight" blanks, however, your bulges don't look too shabby.
Pottz ..... and it can be a challenge to drill since most has a curve.....
DOH!!! Toss the drill bit on some concrete and put a bend in it! Shoulda laid some traps out on the 24th... as those reindeer crap all over your roof, you could reciprocate and harvest some decent antler.
If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
