Our kitchen remodel

I retired at the end of 2021 so I'm finally getting some of my own things done. Finished up the kitchen last year.
Pecan counter tops. Shiplap walls. Cabinets finished with a tinted conversion varnish.  Only thing I didn't do was put the finish on the cabinets. Long process by myself.

I'd rather be covered in sawdust

That's some fine cabinetry work Les!
Impressive moulding work and great doors, lots of precision!
Fine looking cabinets!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Those look beautiful! Outstanding work!
The curved cabinet is amazing!

Really nice job, just starting my remodel, and it won't look anywhere near that good :)
Beautiful job!  For me, the star is the pecan counter tops.  Those are gorgeous.  Did you construct those yourself?  What finish did you use? I may have a kitchen project in my future so your posting this is great timing!
I made the counter tops. Finish is west systems epoxy and several coats of waterlox.

I'd rather be covered in sawdust

Wonderful looking, by great work.  As the others like the counter tops.

I made the handles.  Bought some 3/4 brass knobs and leather straps.

I'd rather be covered in sawdust

Fantastic! You found a great way to kick start your retirement.
Thanks for that added information.  Other than the amazing color, what lead to the selection of pecan?  I looked it up and it was marked as durable but also hard to process as it can dull tools.
Color and look
Had no trouble milling it.

Thanks Les.  I was afraid it might be like hickory which I like the look, but don't really like working with.  I think pecan is now on my list for future projects.
Les,
We always love your corner cabinets.  It's nice to see you made a set for your own kitchen.  Fabulous looking kitchen!

Elegant is the first description that came to mind.  Better looking that what passes for a professional build and install these days. Well done.

I'm working on our pantry, part stock cabinets, part custom built.
