Another Natural Edge Picture Frame

My wife started the Diamond Dot project with the ladies in the park. She finished one of  a desert scene and wanted a natural edge frame for it. I made this on with 4 pieces of mesquite sapwood .The Dot piece is 10" x 14". The frame had to be cut working from the inside only and the outside corners had to be modified to match up as they were all at different lengths. I used my new miter sled for the corners but had a problems with the first cut of the corners. The frame members warped slightly after the rabbet cut was made and I did not notice- thus all the corners had wide gaps after mitering. I ran them through the jointer and just "kissed" the corners using the sled and they all matched. I cut the edges of the dot piece down a little to make it fit the new dimensions.
The frame  is finished with satin poly!

Great team project!  I've made a lot of frames, but never with a natural edge.  Nice job on working that out.
Nice job on the frame! I've thought about making a natural edge one but have never done it. I would think the randomness of the natural edge adds a bit of a challenge.
I like the natural edge on the frame, which is most  appropriate for the picture. Great looking combo. The picture itself is interesting, Diamond Dot you say, think I'm going to look that up - new to me.

I'm back, looked it up, Diamond Dotz. Neat.
That looks great Jim. Love the way you are holding the embroidery in the frame too. I might steal that. You are both very talented.

That’s a handsome frame to hold the wife’s artwork, Jim!

May you have the day you deserve!

cool frame jim.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

The art work and the frame complement each other well.   Nicely done.

I've never gone au naturel with a frame either just due to the required angle flipping when using a miter gauge. The two sided sled makes this look a lot easier!

What did you use the ammo for Jim, Squirrels trying to nest in your new frame?
Looks good. The natural edge goes very well with  the art.
All "hot as" Jim'
def a challenge that's for sure
Attachment method  10 out of 10
Sure beats my metal pins, and is removable as well.
Keep up the good work!

Thank you all for the nice comments. A natural edge frame is difficult to make the opposite sides exactly the same  because I cannot use the conventional method of an end gage over the 45 degree angle corner because they are not the same width out there.  So I used  a pencil line each on the two frame members that was exactly the same distance from the inside  far corner. I cut one piece and when it was the correct length, I transferred that pencil line to the miter sled. I put the second piece on the sled and lined up the two pencil lines and made the cut and they came out the same length on the inside where the picture goes. Actually, I can use this method for any picture frame I make on that sled.

Hi Bruce. What ammo ? You've got me  on that one!!

Hi Rob. I like these discs in the pocket for holding in the picture, even if it is not ever removed. I don't like the metal pins either. It is all woodworking this way.

You have that CCi brick in photo #4
Jim, I'm not sure which compliments which - the 'picture' or the frame.  Both are beautiful and I especially like the hold down system  -
Thanks, Dick.

Hi Bruce, I forgot  that box was showing. I used it to prop up the frame out doors. I added a new photos of it on the wall.
I have 2 boxes of 2LR (1000 rounds) that  I bought at the local flea market in Maricopa,Az.
