Tambourine Box

This box was built from some panels that I had glued up along with some other select lumber. The box was designed around a 10" Tambourine to slide into. The panels have a good mix of species: Purpleheart, Lacewood, Walnut, Maple, Ash, Oak, and the case is Cherry.

I have been experimenting with the wooden hinges along with the latches, they are getting better. And with this box I tried a mitered dovetail at bottom corners. still need some work there. All of the material is just shy of 5/16", I do like working with the micro lumber. Maybe I can get the panel glue ups even thinner for the next ones.

I should start working with some drawings instead of building something on the fly.

Thanks for looking and the comments are welcome.  (Been some time since I have posted) Hi Guys!!

That is what I call really cleaning out the scrap woods!

Tons of interesting stuff going on, the latch is clever!
I guess a tambourine deserves something better that an old hat box or cookie tin!
Splinter, you are correct with the storage and thank you for the comments.

It was well received by my better-half.

Interesting late and hinges.  Use of all the different wood sure draws one attention.  Like it.

Wow!  This is full of neat design features!  The hinges, latches, and carrying handle work so nicely with the whole case.

And so nice to see you posting again!
You are back! I can feel good vibes music from the box:) The hinges and latch look great.

It's so good to see what you're up to! This is an awesome Tambourine box. The hinges and latch are cool, but that latch is so interesting!

I think it is unanimous and by decree, your latch design is now our latch design! 🧐

Eric, I think that working on the fly has produced some fine looking projects as of late. The hinges, the lid clasp, and the handle are all excellent with the varying colors of the box. Nice design, and construction.
OldTool, thanks. Sometimes it pays off.

Eric I really like this box. The smaller the project the harder it is to make all the little pieces. It is always fun to make something unexpected and have it come out so cool.

Awsum55, thanks. Smaller projects are fun, I like working with the micro sized material. Just have to watch them fingers.

Ivan, thanks.
