Cribbage Boards

I often get asked if I have any cribbage boards and have not made any for a few years. I bought this real nice piece of  male pistachio (dark brown to black) just for these boards. The ends were cracked and took a lot of black epoxy filling for use as the second layer under the  game boards. It took some careful planning to hide all the cracks on the inside.
These boards come with drawers, for the pegs and cards, that run on rails glued to the inside of the lower layer. There are 4 rare earth magnets on each drawer to make for a positive closure.
The boards 1 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 13" and are finished with Danish oil and then buffed and waxed to give them a good "feel" when handled.

That a pretty hunka wood you found there, Jim! Nice work showing it off!

May you have the day you deserve!

Nice work, I like the drawer feature.
Thank you all for the nice comments. This is my favorite wood next to Brazilian rosewood!
Hi Barbara, thanks for reminding me about the dimensions. I added them in the description. It is 1 1/2" thick.

I really like the grain pattern. Beautiful. I've been wanting to make a crib board but drilling all those holes!..... gads!!
Thanks, Rick. The holes are a lot of work but I have a steel template that I clamp on the board. Before I had my laser, a friend of mine burned me a template on wood. I transferred it to steel so I lasts a lot longer.

Very nice, I like your design, as it turns out I am working on some cribbage boards myself at the moment.

Is female pistachio bumpier? 🤣
Thanks BG and Nukebert!!

Hi BG..I look forward to seeing your design of the cribbage board !!

Hi Nukebert. The female Pistachio is lighter an pinkish as opposed to the black/brown of the male. The female has no bumps  in the wood and they both have nuts on the tree!!
