I put up an "offcuts challenge" on the Australian Woodwork Forum offering two toy books as the prize!

So encouragement for the "offcuts challenge" - A toy from one of the books!

When I first started toymaking I started with some of the toys from the "The Great All-American Wooden Toy Book" which I've offered as a prize.

As some encouragement to all you woodworkers out there I've rebuilt and one of my first toys, a "Model T Ford".

I've up-scaled it 20% so I could add some extra detail, personalizing it.

The cab is an Australian Red Cedar offcut.
The engine and the trunk are both Blackheart Sassafras offcuts.
The mudguards are Spotted Gum offcuts.
The rest are bits and pieces from my "offcuts bin".
The wheels of course are shop bought but I think that I received them from some generous blokes clean-out.

I've reminded the Aussie makers to get cracking on your offcuts challenge toys with only a month to go!

Nicely done, sir.  And I'm sure you've inspired many to see if those books can be added to their library.  this is a terrific project.
Great motivator to clean out the offcuts and get busy!
Very creative Crowie!  Your work is inspiring. Thanks for the nice write up too!

Thank you ladies and gentlemen for your kind words of support & encouragement.
This project was fun trip down memory lane back to were I started toymaking about 16yrs ago.
Hopefully the prizes of the two books I’ve put up will encourage others to have a go at enjoying making a playable toy for a child.
