Mesquite Bed Frame with G&G details

This is a recently completed Queen sized bed frame. Mesquite with Black Walnut pegs and splines.

Details - The headboard/footboard frames are based on the Fine Woodworking plan. We designed the panel/spindle configuration to suite our tastes. The footboard was modified to sit lower than the top of the matress. Mortise and loose tennon joinery with the bigger joints pinned from the back side. The finish remains easy peasy for Mesquite - 2 brush coats of Danish Oil (natural) and 2 sprayed coats of Shellac (blonde/clear).

Happy to answer any questions. Thanks Craftisians...

Great details and book match work Tim!
Kinda fits in with the rest of your work I'd say 😁
Thanks Pottz. I'm in the opposite position. I've got a whole house of furniture to build. Fortunately, the wife also likes the G&G look as long as I use Mesquite! Thanks again...

Jim J. - Thanks for the kind comment. This was my first bed build. We're happy with the way it turned out...

Splinter - Yeah, lots of bookmatching on this one. I even bookmatched the veneers for the side rails. Unfortunately, you can't really see them with the bed quilt in place! Thanks for taking a look at my project...

Gorgeous! Love the design. Looks perfect in the room with the other furniture.
Very nice bed, great looking both in wood selection and build. I like the corner splines on both headboard & footboard.
It’s a good one Tim. Where did you get all the mesquite?

I’d be so proud of it I’d have trouble sleeping in it for the 1st few nights.🥱

Excellent bed.   Love the G & G influence.   Well done!    Great!

Ron

BB1- Thanks. Yeah, the various pieces (9 total) all look very nice together. I'll post more over time. Thanks again...

Oldtool - The splines that wrap around each of the corners do add a nice touch, I wish I could take credit for the idea. This plan is based on the bedframe in the Gamble House master bedroom.

Gary G - Thanks for the kind comment.

James McIntyre - We're right in the middle of Mesquite country down here in Tucson. I've got a couple of good sources for the lumber. Yes, the wife and I are happy with the results. Thanks so much for the kind words...

987Ron - Thank you. Yup, we're kind of addicted to the style. I'm just glad the wife likes it too! Thanks again...

Beautiful. An heirloom piece for sure…love the G&G design…

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Nice build Tim. Mesquite is one of my favorite woods.

Jeff

RyanG - Thank you. There's something about G&G designs that I just can't get enough of. That's all I building at the moment. Thanks again...

Jeff - Thanks. Gotta love that Mesquite. I've got lots of nice  cut-offs.  I'd be willing to trade a bunch of them for some pen-turning knowledge. Interested?
Looks great Tim, nice job!
Great job on this bed! The mesquite works well with the G&G style.
Steve Rasmussen - Thanks Steve. When we decided to combine  Mesquite and G&G, we were not sure how it would turn out. It does seem to be an unlikely combination. But somehow, it works. We are now working on our second room of furniture in this style because we like it that much. Thanks again...

Great bed Tim, love the G&G look, very restful looking. My Wife said to tell you she loves the bedspread.
GeorgeWest - Thanks for the kind comment. About that bedspread - My Wife does lots of volunteer work here in Tucson. It was gifted to her by one of her clients. It does look nice with the Mesquite bed frame. Thanks again to you and your Wife...

TucsonTim -- turning is just another rabbitt hole buddy. But yes when it cools down maybe we can do that.
