I started out making a bow bread knife but it looked like a mid century style wooden horse sculpture. You must admit the grain in the wood looks like horse hair.
You can make something whimsical like this out of some valuable furniture in your home that you didn’t build, by cutting, chopping or sawing it into pieces. Don’t do it while your mother or wife is home. When you’re finished making your new masterpiece, show it to them when they get home. I guarantee, they will be surprised. 😳 Applying pure tung oil. I was only going to buy the blades but for $7.22 and no freight, this was a bargain. The bow that was in the kit was used as a template to trace the new bow.
Cutting out the shape at the band saw. Sanding off the saw marks at the oscillating drum sander. Filling off the edges.
One of the most important parts of finishing the bow is you have to put the last screw a little wider than the blade hole to add tension to the blade.
Thanks for stopping by and visiting my sculpture / Bow Bread Knife. And comments are always welcome.
Nice piece James! No one can say you don't have any horse sense, that is a very anthropomorphic (equipomorphic?) tool for the kitchen. Did you hide the remains of the furniture under the couch?
Love the detailed writeup, very cool and informative!
Thanks Ducky. One of my sons said it looks like an anteater. I’m sticking with a horse. It probably looked like that when it first crawled out of the primordial ooze. And only you can see a naked turtle.🐢
You’re very observant. I am a left hand guy living in a right hand world.
Yes Pottz there’s Black forest ham, hard salami, prosciutto, provolone cheese, onions lettuce and tomatoes olive oil and red wine vinegar and some oregano. It’s delicious.
