How I Made A Small Bread Knife From A Bow Bread Knife Blade

I recently made a bread bow knife and the kit came with 4 extra blades. I needed a smaller bread knife so I came up with this idea.

Drawing the shape of the handle with yellow chalk so I could see the shape when I cut it out at the band saw.
Cutting a slot for the blade. Every time I use my band saw I think it’s staring at me with those beady eyes.👀

Dry fitting the blade in the handle.
Shaping and filling the handle.

Epoxying the handle to the blade.

Drilling the counter sinks and holes for the rivets and the hole for the mosaic pin.

After hammering in the rivets I epoxied in the mosaic pin holding the knife with a spring clamp.
Applying several coats pure tung oil.

I works well. But I have to use caution cutting with it because it’s very sharp.
Thanks for visiting my project and comments are always welcome.

Thanks Pottz. No on the cutting board it’s just a prop. My youngest son bought it for me. I think it came from Over Stock.

This is the bottom.

Very nice kitchen knife James.
Was it hard drilling through the blade for the rivets?, or did you not hit it?
Nice accessory!

Gonna put a horse face on the handle?
OldTool. Yes it was hard drilling through the blade. I ruined a 1/16” bit I used for a pilot hole. I was going to mention that in the story but it slipped my mind. Very hard stainless.

Splinter 😀 no but I will if I get requests for bread knives with  faces on them. But for a lot of bread.

Looks like a handy adaptation of redundant inventory... however, should you either cut off the tip or sharpen it... you may forget you're not playing tennis (or similar) and follow through, catching that blunt edge ripping instead of cutting... it's not a surf board.

BUT... with our firearms bans here in Aussieland, there is a proliferation of knife crimes... you could make a fortune selling your "stabless" knives here, on the open market.... though the black market may have the real knives out for you.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Ducky I don’t care what Pottz thinks I think you’re funny. When one murder device is banned bad people find another way. Your gov also prevented law abiding citizens from protecting themselves.  You should get a larger knife.

That's cause their brain trust couldn't think of a special tax to put on that.

Ducky maybe if they were to put a fifty dollar tax on each bullet you might make them happy. As far as my bread knives goes it would take a long time to saw an intruder in half.

james i love the duck, i just dont praise him though because that swells his little duck brain and he tends to get all cocky ! it would be like if i said i loved his puzzles, oh god that would be too much !!! ive spent several years training him and your gonna ruin it 😁 it's best we keep him medicated and calm 😂

Sorry Pottz I do think he’s funny but I wouldn’t put my hand in his mouth.
When he wakes up at noon who knows what will happen.
