emoji box

I wanted to make something fun after making the urn. This did the trick and I’m happy with the way it turned out.

I’ve always liked the contrast of padauk and maple, even though the redness will turn brown eventually. I made this box 7 months ago and it never had direct sunlight. I was shocked at how quickly it started to turn.

I used red oak for the sides, along with padauk and maple. It doesn’t really matter to me, the contrast will still be nice.
The profile of this box is the same on the top as it is on the bottom.

I used Aqua-Coat on the inside floor of the box to make the padauk very shiny and smooth. I also did some re-sawing for some DIY banding and decided to try it out on this project.

Even though all the small verticals on the corners were cut accurately, it was slightly off if the top was flipped around. To make sure the top went on correctly I added a tooth to register it.

I don’t know if I’ll make anymore emoji boxes, but there are so many emojis to choose from, a person could spend a lifetime and never make the same one twice.

An emoji box is a cool idea. This one looks great - nice job!
Nice!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

there's nothing wrong with emojis.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Nice box! It's a shame about woods changing color over time.

Gotta love the theme!
Really like how you think of small details, the inlay strips in the corner posts really add structure to the appearance without requiring a lot of extra work.

Colors and style are inline with your always high standards!

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Thanks everyone for such nice comments, glad you all liked it.
Now I need to give it to someone quick while the colors are still bright. 😂
