Keepsake Box

I wanted a project to try out my new wedge sled so this is the result. It is a keepsake box made from pecan wood and the top is a  starburst  of 12 wedges of Chinaberry wood. The sled cut very accurately! It has 1/8" steel  pivots in the sides of the top.  It is  8" x 4 1/2" x 3 1/2"  high and finished with Danish Oil and then 3 -stage buffed and waxed ..

That's pretty cool! I haven't used my Miter-Set that I bought a long time ago. I was going to do segmented turning.

Chinaberry wood? What the heck is that? Never heard of it. Beautiful. Absolutely love the starburst lid. You should do a tutorial for us. 👍
Excellent Jim. Just awesome!
Love the use of dowels for the sides!
Sweet box Jim/
Nice!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

The clean design of the box really let's that lid be the star. Great project!
That Chinaberry lid is fabulous. The wedges are as tight as a Nuns (#%+and the box comes together beautifully. Nice job Jim. I too would love to see a Blog on making the sled..
Nice. China berry.  I have to look that up.

Can we see the sled or is it pictured?

Cool top, but I do appreciate the design as depicted by the last, layout picture

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Nice accurate wedgies, Jim!

May you have the day you deserve!

Looks like you have your wedge sled dialed in. The top is very striking.

Great box, Jim. The top is fantastic. Like you and others mentioned, that wedge sled works perfectly.
Thank you all for the nice comments. I got the idea a few weeks ago from a box presented by Bruce ( Splintergroup).
Thanks, Bruce !!!!!!

Great Work, as always, Jim!
You sure have access to some pretty woods!
I too, am going to have to take a look at your Wedge Cutting Sled, it made for a very dramatic lid here, very nice!
