Mesquite Cross

I saw a guy make one of these on Facebook and thought I should try it. I had a thick piece of mesquite  with a big crack in it  that would lend itself to this shape. I cut out the first curve  and almost got all of it cut away except for a small spot on the left side.
It is 9" tall and finished with Shellawax and then three stage buffed and waxed.

So you looked across at the crack and came up with this project.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

That's nice Jim.

I like the curves

Interesting design, Jim!

May you have the day you deserve!

Nice work, it came out great.
Nice! I assume that’s all bandsaw work?

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

That came out nice!

Hi Barbara, did you see the one with 3 crosses on line too? I have another idea of making a box below it!!

I think I saw that too but not the "how to" build part. Do you have a link?
Hi, Barbara. I did not save the link but it is real simple. I used a french curve to lay out the curved frontal area and cut it out on the bandsaw and smoothed it out on the spindle sander. Then I laid out the cross on the front curved area and  laid out the curved area at the bottom with a French curve I traced on a piece of cardboard and cut it out to make a flexible French curve. All of it was cut on the bandsaw! The last shot shows the pieces that were cut out to make the shapes.
