Chisel and Mallet Tool Rack

I've started building tool racks for the second tool wall in my little workshop. First up is a rack for my remaining chisels and mallets. As you can see from the 3rd photo, these racks will be taller than the racks on the first wall, since I don't have to allow for space under them to use the worktop. Here are some pics of the tools the rack holds.

Top row: Henry Taylor vintage Diamic paring chisels and an Ashley Iles drawbore pin

Second from top row: Henry Taylor vintage Diamic Cranked-Neck Paring chisels and the other Ashley Iles drawbore pin. The four cranked-neck chisels with the lighter handles came to me in a pretty rough state, so I had to completely restore them and refinish the handles. The 3/4" one with the darker handle is one I bought to complete the range. I'm on the hunt for a vintage one to replace it.

Third from top row: Henry Taylor Diamic Firmer chisels

Bottom row: Blue Spruce Optima Bevel-edge chisels. I bought the set of 6 and then added the 1/8", since I seem to use that size more and more these days.

The bottom shelf holds all of my mallets. First up are my 'dummy' mallets and brass hammers.

Then, all my carving mallets. I say carving mallets, but 95% of my work is done with the Wood is Good Urethane mallet at the bottom which I've customised (as I have with the one above it). This basically involved making the handle shorter and rounding over the end and easing the top and bottom edges of the urethane head so it feels better in the hand. This mallet has become an extension of my arm over the years. I never look at it when I'm using it and it always delivers the blow I want, whether it be on a delicate carving or whacking the life out of an English mortise chisel.

Apart from the dark handled cranked-neck paring chisel, I bought all of the Henry Taylor chisels secondhand and I would say that about 80% of them had cracked ferrules. I replaced them all with new brass ferrules from Ashley Iles. Luckily I'd bought some spares.

So I'm affectionately calling this area of my workshop 'Chisel Corner'.

On to the next one now which will hold all my handsaws.

Thanks for looking!

Great storage. Looking at your thumper we share a like of smaller handled, metal head tools.
Thanks everyone. I appreciate it.

Beautiful set of tools stored well. Love it.
Wow, what a set of chisels you have, impressive. The new, and older, racks are perfect for easy identification and quick retrieval. Nice build, great display.
