Mexican Train Centerpiece

A friend bought  a set of dominoes for the Mexican Train game and the center piece was a thin cardboard piece that would slide under the dominoes. They wanted a thicker one. I cut them one out of some 1/2" walnut and did a little engraving on it to personalize it to the game..

It is finished with satin lacquer.

This is fantastic!  My kids have a Mexican train game and some of the stuff included was junk.  This would be a welcome addition.

You certainly making that laser work overtime...

Is that an envious

1/2" laser cut ,or you're just playing with my balls,

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Thanks Larry and Bigblockyeti!
Hi Alex, I did the engraving on the laser but cut the piece out on the scroll saw. My 20 W laser will only cut about 5/32" thick stock ! I made one of these in Arizona  for a lady but never posted it or engraved it!

Handy game accessory Jim!

Surprised you didn't use the laser, but certainly the scroll saw would be quicker.
I cut 1/4" walnut with my 10W, 8mm/sec at 75% power, 5 passes.
Thanks, Bruce. I don;t have the patience to wait 5 passes and I get a ton of smoke from cutting. I use a vac but some gets away!!  I can cut 5/32" in one pass and I do it for some things. I did the cutting from laying it out on the  piece and did not use the laser for the pattern.

Hi Rob. It is not my set  but I think it is just a box or regular dominoes.

Hi Ivan. It is a game they play with dominoes where they place one in the center and then all the players start out with one in each of the slots. I played it years ago and forgot the rules.

And I thought that this was going to be a piece for a model locomotive. This makes a lot more sense.
