Four Pens

I see the theme lately is pens so I got on the band wagon!! I also just got a new catalog from Penn State industries and had to try  out some of the new kits. The first 2 are Horse Twist pens which are gifts for my friends in Minnesota. They still have 3 horses on their ranch and they are my age so not riding much any more. I thought these new pens would be fitting for happy unbirthday gifts!! Their birthdays are in July and December!! They are gun metal kits and they wood is sycamore..

The other 2 are bolt action pen kits made with African Blackwood and with gun metal finish on the steel parts. These will go to the fall shows.

They are all finished with Danish oil and then EEE and Shellawax.

Nicely done!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Lookin' good! That bottom one looks thick enough to fit my mitt. I have some requested from a friend whom I gave all my pen equipment to.

Nice work Jim, I'm sure these will be well received
Thank you all for the nice comments !!!!!!!
Hi Tony. No I don't have a rotary attachment for my laser. I did not think I was smart enough to run it. I'm just lucky to get the laser to do what  I need it to do. I have a lot of jigs to hold all different shapes for engraving. These were burned on my new little v block with a relieved center for fat pens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers, Jim

The inventor of pens, Mr. Slavoljub PENkala, famous Croatian, would be very proud of you.

really nice work on these pens,Jim.  It's been a  while since I made any pens but I think some of the new additions to the PennState inventory are definitely worth looking into.  You've done a great job on these.
