Lightweight cutting board
My wife wanted a cutting board, but she didn’t want one that was so heavy it would be a struggle to use. This measures 11 1/2 x 9 1/2 and is 5/8 of an inch thick. It’s made with maple, walnut and cherry. It’s finished with mineral spirits. I guess I got it right, my wife loves it. It’s the perfect size and weight and she uses it at least once every day.

It's morally "hard" to make a plain old board so it'll get used. Making a piece of art that is used really is something worthwhile.

Love that pattern John, just worried that at 5/8" on an end grain board you are looking at breaks if it is wet any time at all. I'd put that into an upright, or angled rack so it could store on it's side. That way it could have air all around it to allow it to dry. Wider boards can just stand on their side to do the same. The advantage there is it's also being displayed when not in use. Better than some artwork. :-)
