Chess board and extras

With all the beautiful pieces others have been submitting lately I wasn’t sure if I wanted to post pics of my last projects. What the heck, not as fancy as some but they were fun to make and here they are.
The chess board is for my sister’s husband. I used maple, walnut and some purple heart. About 4 coats of brush on lacquer followed by wet sanding up a few grades. I then used an automotive rubbing compound and waxed with an electric polisher.
The cutting board was just the left overs from the chess board and the oven rack pullers were me just wanting to do something quick and easy.
