Piano room step inlay

I was asked to make an inlay that would help people notice the step into the piano room to prevent them from stumbling. Here is how it went. ? All the inlays are a full quarter inch thick so the floors can be sanded in the future. My Porter Cable router died before I got half way through the big mill out. So I ran out and picked up a new Rigid one. ?? I used a 3/4" rare earth magnet to locate all the flooring staples and marked them with a silver sharpie so I didn’t hit them with the bit. Glued the inlays in with PL Premium (you can glue snot to a Frog with that) and finished with a bit of sanding and satin Varathane. Over all a great unique custom project. And it sure honed up my inlay skills.

I also tinted my glue (Titebond 3) with India ink to show the glue lines and make the white keys stand out better.

Fabulous! Did you make the keys as touch pads that play music as you enter? ;-)
