Morris Chair

I built this Morris Chair out of solid quartersawn white oak. It is a reproduction of the original designed and built by Shop of the Crafters in Cincinnati, Ohio in the early 1900’s. True to the genre it features mortise and tenon joinery throughout. For the cushions I’ll use light brown leather.

That’s one great looking Morris chair, very well done.

Lovely piece, what did you finish it with?

That’s a real beauty.

Been building out of QS white oak for a while. Like your chair. You should try using a dye under the stain.

I use an orange and lemon yellow transfast powder to make a gallon of dye. Then minwax dark walnut on top.

That's a nice chair Ken. I've always wanted to build one of those myself. Nice job!
yeah a beautiful chair. sadly kens last post was in 2017. i wish some of the original members would come back. there was a lot of very talented people here in the beginning.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.
