Flower Hat #2

I had just finished posting my “projects on the go list” here and I was working on one of the projects when I decided that I needed a break from a long-term project and whip up something fast.

So I decided to do an adult version of the flower hat …

well, I don’t know how the first one turned out so perfectly … ‘cause adding a couple more rows of increases to make an adult hat did not result in a “twin” version…. but that’s ok.I adapted.

Then came time for the flower…and inspired by some projects seen online, I thought I’d try my hand at "button flowers’.
Perhaps the best part of these button flowers is the backstory - earlier this year I stopped at a church rummage sale and while going through things, the lady asked me if I crocheted, which I kind of did.. and she suggested I take the crochet cotton. The items had belonged to a senior who was now in a home and they were trying to pass along the last of the items from her home. So I took the cotton. I had no idea what I’d use it for because I certainly don’t have the patience and dexterity to work with such tiny yarn and crochet hooks.

I’m guessing that the crochet cotton is old. The wrapper looks old: Lily Sky-Tone Mercerized Crochet Cotton, Art.123N.
The buttons, as well, are old …. scavenged from the stash my mother collected over decades!
And the tiny crochet hook, a "Boye 11 (Made in USA) also is an oldie, I am guessing, as it, too, came from Mom’s collections.

So there you have it … Flower Hat #2.
