Memory Game

The crocheted games that I’ve made the wee grand-kids have been a huge success.
Today, they got these discs … the intention was “a memory game” but I didn’t label them so that the 3-year-old could use his creative thinking to put them to use … it went from a “find the red one” to “toss in the basket” to find the matching one, to a magnet game (see directions below) and, perhaps next visit — to “the memory game”.

Today, they only had 2 discs to start with but I quickly whipped up two more to help with the play potential. I have now added two more.

The discs:

  • magic ring 12 dc
  • 2 dc in each stitch around (24)
  • 2 dc in each stitch around (48)
  • decrease all the way around (24)
  • change to colour yarn
  • insert used canning jar disc (seals) <<< making them a magnet game
  • decrease all the way around 12
  • decrease all the way around 6
  • decrease all the way around 3
  • decrease and finish off.

For the first one, I did “linked double crochet stitches” which really was a bit nicer but the ordinary ones worked up faster and time was an issue as they were going to be visiting “any minute”.
