Security First
Security is a top priority for WoodworkingWeb and you – our members. Today marks an important milestone as we made the switch from HTTP to HTTPS to keep everyone safe on our website. And yes, it’s a site-wide switch, not a page here or there.
In a nutshell, you can now enjoy strong HTTPS encryption by default.
Here’s a brief overview of HTTPS from Wikipedia:
“In its popular deployment on the internet, HTTPS provides authentication of the website and associated web server that one is communicating with, which protects against man-in-the-middle attacks. Additionally, it provides bidirectional encryption of communications between a client and server, which protects against eavesdropping and tampering with and/or forging the contents of the communication.4 In practice, this provides a reasonable guarantee that one is communicating with precisely the website that one intended to communicate with (as opposed to an imposter), as well as ensuring that the contents of communications between the user and site cannot be read or forged by any third party.” – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_Secure
Please note that this also means that we have to be even more strict about the content we can safely display on our Website. From now on you cannot include images from other websites in your posts. Just use our picture upload tool and you’re good to go. Nothing else has been affected.

Not that I use them anyway.

lanwater – that’s right as we have to ensure “that the contents of communications between the user and site cannot be read or forged by any third party.”
Our multi-picture upload tool is quite convenient so this shouldn’t cause any hassles.

I guess that also means those of us with our own domain/site won’t be able to “copy image” from those web pages either. I guess this is a good trade off since WoodworkingWeb has NO LIMIT on image SIZE uploaded. I like it!
And the way I look at it, one can always do a “screen shot” from another website that you want share/point-out.

That’s right, Mike. There’s no limit. Most of the time it’s simple right-click, save image and then upload if it sits on some other webpage.

Ah ha! I was so used to clicking on “save image location” that I forgot about doing a direct “copy image”. DOAH! Got it now… Old habits die hard… ;-)

How about videos we upload to youtube and put the embedded code in the post?

Those are fine lanwater. As well as Vimeo videos. Default share→embed code works fine.
