Last jig for a while. I promise. I made a finger joint jig today. This one is for 1/2" joints. I started by making the key. That took about 20 passes on the table saw shaving off micro layers until I was happy. Then I cut the keyway into a board. The hardest part is aligning it to get a tight fit. It’s not perfect but I’m happy with it. I think glue will full up most of the small space. If not, a little filler goes a long way. The board is bolted to my crosscut sled so it can be removed when not in use. I want to make a 1/4" one too, but not today.

One thing I did after taking the pictures is cut the key height down. I realized that any material thickness less than 1/2" will get hung up on the key. So I put the whole thing on my trusty vise and sawed it down by hand, then Sanders it a little. It should be good for down to 1/4".

Jwayne, go for it. But use the screws. Just put one in near the front. This will act as a pivot and make it easier to align. Then lock it down with more screws.

Nice. I built one in December love it.

Good job!
Coincidence, I finished my 1/4" router table jig yesterday. Man, the joint is tight! Sure makes a nice corner.
