So this was my summer woodworking related project. Over a 3.5 month period I wrote the book
Quiet Woodworking: In An Unquiet World. I felt the timing was right and knowing myself , if the window passes I move on to other projects. What better time to write than the summer! The book describes my journey and thoughts on the state of woodworking today. How I feel the direction should be going forward. The book has you experience woodworking from a different viewpoint.
Hand tools provide a quiet, dust-free shop environment conducive to better quality craftsmanship. The book not only emphasize this, but I discuss how to introduce efficiency with hand tools through bench appliances and jigs. My argument is that with regular use, hand tools provide similar performance results to using machines without the noise and dust. We naturally develop techniques to efficiently use hand tools through their use. How we should also take a step back and be introspective of our own woodworking journey. More about the book at
