Round Glass-topped Side Table

I built this table in 2009, and posted it to LumberJocks on July 20, 2011. It was the first project I ever posted there (and the first I posted anywhere outside of a small personal website I maintained back then). We're still using it.

I built this small (16" diameter, 23" high) side table to fit into a sitting area in our master bedroom.

The top is maple veneer over MDF, while the legs and ring are solid maple. An inset glass top and aluminum support rods complete the materials. The finish is Trans Tint dark walnut dye and lacquer (from a spray can).

The last image above is a pre-construction design rendering (done in MicroStation) showing several variations of top and leg thickness.

Nice! I like the lower brace design.
Nice design! It’s fun to look back at what we’ve made in the past.

Thanks, shipwright and oldrivers!

Shipwright, I remember your commenting on one of my early LJ projects (my workbench). You had some interesting ideas about vises that didn’t stick out from the bench. That was a long time ago…
That is one nice side table, I thought the bracing was stainless steel. A great design. Well done.

Love the design!  It looks just perfect with the chair as a place to sit and relax.
