Project Information
well the holidays are coming fast and SWMBO requested a dough rolling board,so whats a woodworker to do but get to work and make one. so as a kind jesture i decided to throw in a rolling pin,why not. so here are the stats you guys love. board size is 28"x 20" x 3/4" birch consisting of 3 pc's joined with domino's. the back ledge board and cleats for the pin to rest are attached with screws covered by walnut plugs, wife hate's when i use plugs. the rolling pin is solid cocobolo 1-3/4" x 22" tapered on the ends slightly. the finish is a blend of mineral oil and wax. rubber bumpers on the bottom so board will stay in place. wife is very happy and ill get lots of stuff i really shouldn't eat,but it's the holidays, right. all comments good or bad are welcome.
sorry about the pic's being a little dark, flash was not working well today.
also this board will be stored under the table it's on so when needed she can just pull it out and use.

also want to give a thanks to lj fatmansat for the inspiration on this.

Nice project Pottzy

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Dough rolling board or board rolling in the dough, tough choice!

Is there a wood type (open or closed grain) that is a no-no?

Looks good Lar!
Pottz, well done, a great project.

Main Street to the Mountains

thanks guys.
splint i think any wood that you wouldn't use as a cutting board would be a no for me.

Are you ever going to run out of cocobolo?

Have made rolling pins from maple.   Worked fine.    No finish, let the Chef decide on his treatment of wooden objects in his/her kitchen.     Most did pretty much what Pottz did.
Nicely done Pottz
