Quarto Board Game

The day after Andre posted his Quarto board game build (https://www.lumberjocks.com/projects/421659), I had to make one. I thought it looked like fun and it only takes around 15 minutes to play a game. I just about followed Andre's build out the window with very few changes.

Instead of cutting a line in each game piece to designate the bottom, I burned in my logo instead.

I used some spalted wood on the top and also as a divider in the box. I made two small trays to hold the pieces and I covered them in felt. I used magnets to keep the sliding top closed and attached a bent laminated handle. It's only used to open the box not to carry it, the magnets would have to be much stronger or it would need a latch. My wife and I have been enjoying playing ever since. It really makes you think.

Nicely done John. I like the idea of putting the magnets on the miters, the box itself looks great with the bentwood handle. Have never played the game, it does sound interesting.

Like it all, the box, the game pieces, the handle.   Well done.

Not that I'm kinky... would have liked to see the bottom... the engraving.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Very neat storage (that lid is eyecatching for sure!).  I will need to look into the game a bit more - looks interesting.
Wooden versions are always so better than plastic or cardboard.

Thanks to all for the nice comments, I have been in a slump lately and can't get motivated to make anything.

Go out and organize the shop, it helps me think of projects.

I agree with Eric. When I organize and clean up I always find something I want to work on.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".
