Long Shoehorns

I made these two shoehorns from kits from Pen State Ind. (PSI) and a couple of  pieces of olive wood I brought back from Arizona The kit instructions say to to make an 8" long handle. These shoehorns are 28 1/2" long. With a short one you would still have to bend down- with these you don't.

They are finished with Danish Oil and then 3 step buffed and waxed

Nice Jim, and a great back saver.

Good mod, an 8 inch handle wouldn’t do me any good either.  Pretty wood.

Jim,

Good job on the long shoe horns.  The less bending the better.  I got a plastic one in my closet.

Great idea, make this task as easy as possible. I'm guessing - because I'm not much of a turner - that these required a delicate touch to avoid bending.
Nice work.
Thank you all for the nice comments.

Hi Tom when I get down to a long skinny piece, I use a steady rest. I have two banjos on my lathe so I can work both sides of the steady rest and don have to  move it .
