Picture Frame

My wife wanted a small frame for this painting she received from the Canadian artist, Linda Byrt. She would have liked natural edge but I had nothing that straight and small cross section.
This is made from red oak, fractal burned and stained with Michael's Cherry, the color of the rest of the furniture in the room. It is 3/4" wide and 1  1/8" high and the painting is 10 x 20. The final finish is satin poly.

Love the rustic look from the fractal burn.  compliments the refined  details of the painting.
Nicely done Jim, looks rustic and matches the artwork wonderfully.

Eric beat me to my comment 😀 - that frame is a perfect match for the artwork!
Wow!!!!  That is Beautiful...The Fractal Burning really enhances the frame and the beautiful painting.

Very unique frame Jim, it looks great with that picture also.

That natural edge and subsequent treatment looks great.
The depth of the burning really nailed the "old" look to the wood! Maybe red oak is worth using in items that usually call for finer grained wood.
Thank you all for the nice comments. She did not say she didn't like it- that's a good thing! It is one of the only times I burned oak. It has such an open grain that it burns in" lines" more than the " tree" pattern but it looked good as a whole.

Looks like very old archeology artefact. Nice frame!

...woodicted

That's a really great effect. I at first thought it was reclaimed wood.
Thanks, Devin. That is the first time I burned a whole frame like that and it turned out pretty good!
