Ulu Knife Handle

I have always wanted a Damascus steel knife and I knew i could never make one so I bought this Damascus Ulu  knife blade and made a handle for it out of Brazilian Rosewood. The blade is doweled in the handle and fitted tightly in the pocket so there is no movement at all. I decided to glue the halves together rather than use rivets because it made a cleaner handle. With the dowels in there I could do all the shaping without the blade in it and knew it would fit when I got done.

It is finished with Danish oil and buffed and waxed............................Next is a holder for it.

Great looking ulu!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Uuuu cool stuff! ...like the handle!

...woodicted

Good looking handle & the blade should hold a fine edge.

Nice handle, like the wood selection, adds a great deal of beauty.
Beauty of a metal/wood combination.
That be rain drop Damascus?

Should be handy when you are flaying out a walrus down in Arizona! 🙂
Nice tool Jim. I've always wanted one, but the wife says she probably wouldn't use it. Not sure why, but she says that about a lot of things I think are interesting.

Thank you for all the nice comments.

Hi Bruce. I could be raindrop Damascus. It fits this description:
Raindrop Damascus knives feature Damascus folding pocket knives and fixed blade hunting knives with damascus steel blades highlighting a raindrop design. The raindrop damascus design is very prominent, and illustrates rotating circular motions on the blade. Many Damascus knives highlight a combination of raindrop and twist designs which are hand forged, providing a unique one of a kind look. Additionally, these knives feel great as they are made with stag bone or horn handles, providing a secure and comfortable grip. If you're looking for the perfect durable and reliable outdoor hunting or camping knife, you can't go wrong with our raindrop damascus knives for sale.

Hi  Pottzy. We have a souvenir Ulu knife from Alaska that is made from Stainless Steel. I have to sharpen it with the "steel" every time I use it. This one will stay sharp. I have it honed like a razor.

Hi John, I bet my wife uses this one!!
