Cherry Coffee Table

This was a fun little project.  The cherry for the legs has a long family history that I explain in this post.  I bought the rest of the cherry in 2012 from a guy in western MA who milled it and then air-dried it for two years.

My shop is in an old barn.  The only control over the "HVAC" is windows and doors.  The conditions while I was making this table were in the sweet spot - it's a pleasure just to be there.

This gives a sense of scale 🙂

Nice table Chuck! The design and materials are spot on.
nice "little " table chuck !

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Love the top. made better by that back story. That swirled grain, with the darker streaks is what I refer to as "Gummy" Cherry. I love all cherry, but Gummy wins if you want character built in. It's not more than mineral streaks, and gum pitch swirled in, but it gives those nice swirly grain lines.

Totally threw me off showing it next to the fireplace in the first shot, then the scale shot. Either you have some MONSTER matches, or that is an elaborate doll house sized room.

Nice build.
NICE LOOKING TABLE.  WELL DONE.

Yes!
A+ for the cherry and sorry for the cat 🤔
Nice looking table.
My best guess is the matchstick for “scale” is as real as the BF quote! 🤣
Thanks for the kind comments.

The matchstick comes from this old project.

Well hell, and I even commented on it a year ago. How soon we forget, maybe I am getting oldtimers??? Nahh.
Nice work Chuck. It looks a little different with the solid top compared to the invisible top
Nice! Love the matchstick.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".
