a nice box for your beautiful planes rick. i see you made room for two more, smart ! but will it be enough ?

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

I like the ‘handle’ design👍🏼. Nicely done.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Thanks Pottz, RyanGi !

Pottz.....I hope the two extra spaces will be enough. We'll see. 🙂
but will it be enough?

First thing that popped into my mind too! 🤠

Great storage solution Mr.Rick! Nice and compact. The touch of elegance for a shop storage box is always good.
I suppose you can make an additional box and divide by cove and round-over if your shop rabbits start multiplying 👍
Thanks SplinterGroup!
I was wondering also if two more positions would be enough.
Dang!! Oh well.... if need be I'll make another. 😄
Nice build Rick, a sweet home for your planes.

Thanks Oldtool, 987Ron, and Mike_UK ! I appreciate it.
I'd like to know if you guys enjoy my posts of this length? Sometimes I wonder if it's worth it judging by any comments or thumbs up I may get. Comments?
I enjoy them immensely Rick. I know they’re somewhat of a pain, as I’ve posted some myself, but I greatly enjoy understanding the process. I don’t think you can judge the effort simply by replies. That’s the downside of on-line content. For what it’s worth, I wish more folks posted well documented project posts…I’d rather read and understand, than doom scroll past a ton of posts with little comment.

Thank you RyanGi. I appreciate the feedback.
It is hard to gauge the acceptance based solely on comments. If you look at the "views" (223 at this moment) you can get a better idea of the interest.
I for one am in Ryan's camp. I do like to at least read a bit about the process versus just scanning images. Writing and formatting a project is indeed a bit of a pain. Unless I prepare to photograph the steps, much of that info is lost in that it is difficult to properly explain without the embedded visuals.
real nice box, Rick!!!

Thanks for the feedback SplinterGroup!

Thanks Jim!
From a different viewpoint Rick, replies might not have as much to do about the thread, it's quality, or completeness. In a world of everyone, well most people, use a hand held electric router, and a specific bit to do edge work today, and not near as many peeps use hand planes at all, much less to do edge work. So it could be a lot of "looks" as Splint mentioned, but not as many comments simply because they saw it was a "hand tool" thing, and they don't use hand tools. I think most everyone making comments here are what you would call hand tool users, or blended woodworkers.

I am blended, but beyond that it is shop storage, and I can see in it other possible uses, but I'd guess many didn't comment because it's not what they use themselves. Not sure if that is right or wrong, but it's a possible explanation.

So I say, yep, put in the process, for those of us using hand tools, and having a more open view of possible uses beyond the specific one you are using it for, I think you will note appreciation from the audience that does respond.

And thank you for doing so. Usually I can figure out how I would do something, it's seeing how others do something that can give you ideas, and possibly change how you do your work. IE: looking for a better way, or growth. Beyond some friendships here it was my initial reason from starting to go to woodworking forums. Didn't start doing that until I had been woodworking over 35 years.

Plus it's a great box. even if you didn't use it for tool storage.
