someone yesterday asked that we post more projects. well the best i can do right now is the end table i made about twenty years ago. i never posted it so here it is. made from 8/4 cherrywood. the top is maple burl that i re sawed 1/4" thick. the wide pieces are re sawn mrytlwood bordered with wenge. the finish is maloof formula with a coat of wax. size 19"h x 29"w x 61" long. there is a slight arch on the sides. any questions please ask. i dont mind an honest critigue. just dont be nasty...........i do bite ๐Ÿ˜Ž

That's way cool, and way out of my league, I'm a small project guy.

Really nice!ย  The burl looks great with the other contrasting wood types.ย  Curious how you decided on the different wood types to combine.ย  Also, do you remember the finish you used?ย  The table looks to have that warm color of an oil finish (my guess anyway).
thank you barb. the wood combo was just what i thought at the time worked ! the finish i used then was maloofs blend of 1/3 tung oil, 1/3 linseed oil and 1/3 semi gloss poly. i still use his blend to this day. if it was good enough for the most revered woodworker in the world it's good enough for me ! but now i do use a lot of general finishes stuff which i regard as top notch. im all for oil finishes !

Most of my projects I tend to go with one wood type, although on a few, have tried combinations (e.g., maple and walnut).ย  I need to keep that in mind more when designing as I like the visual interest the various types and colors gives to your table.
yeah barb dont limit yourself ?
