Salt box

Made this small box 4x2x3" to hold salt.

Used a dremel to carve out the cavity.

The pivot is brass tube with matching brass rod to create the pivot for the lid.

Lid is held closed with to small magnets.

Finish is WaterLux. ( Food safe)

Wood is walnut, I believe Claro.

Great way to make use of a smaller chunk of fancy walnut!
Nice box, like the pivot method.   If it is not used as a salt box repurpose it as a grease box (wax) for screw lube.    Well done.

Cute! I like the figure.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Thanks guys

The pivot method has lots of uses. Right on Ron.  I ran all around town searching this solution.

I hope it helps someone else.

Works great

If you ever get Chuckey's infestation,

you'll know where to reach for the saltPeter.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Petey, that looks great and a perfect use for smaller chunks of highly figured wood.  I have a few and now I know what to do with them.
