Photo Frames

My grand father asked me to make a photo frame a little over a year ago and I finally made it and delivered it to him.

Since I only had 6 days to finish this project along with another project (which I will post here soon), I quickly made a shooting board and cut a miter. I know I was busy through the year, I could only afford 6 days out of the whole year (just joking, I’m just a last minute guy)... I even wished I had a table saw to finish it, haha.

The spline was going to be 1/8" thick but as I messed up cutting it so badly, it ended up about 1/4"... The thickness doesn't really matter to this project so it was ok but it just cost me extra time with the chisel to enjoy.....

Anyways, I made them within the time lines and I successfully delivered them to my grand father and my parents.
I like the grains of both wood and I'm happy with the result.

So nice! That maple is so pretty and the cherry looks great too.
Nicely done, and I especially like the curly maple!

Mas if your hand tool work was music it would be a sweet soothing song !

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Great frames YRTi. I like the thicker splines. I may try them. You were taking a chance waiting over a decade to finally build these frames for grandpa. Locky he’s still around. 😟

It’s great to see you posting again YRTi. They work great with the photos. James. He didn’t take a decade it was only over a year. But you’re right about cutting it close.

Very nice!
Cherry and the curly maple are great for frames, subtle figure that glows, but not too distracting.

I like how you refined the corners, exposed end grain always finishes different, but you have balanced the amount for each side skillfully.
Yrti  great craftsmanship as usual.   Love the frames, both are outstanding.

Ron

Pottz, Thank you. But the lyrics would be very spicy, especially after a missed cut!
James, Thank you. He's asking me if I can make a walking stick now and maybe I should rush to make it for the reason, haha...
DrQuackner, Thanks you. I was just busy in the past months and now catching up:)

Splinter, Thank you. To be honest, the corner profile is, it's pretty much just what I ended up with but not necessarily planned, haha.

Nicely done! Good recovery on the spline!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".
