I saw one of these on Facebook and needed a tool like that for the rows in my garden. Keeping in line with my motto ( "You appreciate it more if you make it yourself" ), I had to try to make one. It came out pretty good and works really well! The bottom is a 1/8" steel plate cut out on the metal band saw. The plate is welded to a piece of 1/2" steel rod. The shaft is an old steel broom handle and the top end is a plug of white oak- cost was zero! Cheers, Jim

Well, it looks "pretty good and works really well", but you need to make & install a wood handle so this post fits into the woodworking theme here. Nice work, a great back saver.
Hey Ducky........Tha is the beauty of it no electronics and no batteries!!!!!!!!!
Hi Tom, I posted it under metal working but it does have white oak end cap on top of the handle. I painted it green with the rest of it!! I used it on my compost pile and it takes the weed out deep so the roots come along!!
