Weed puller

I saw one of these on Facebook and needed a tool like that for the rows in my garden. Keeping in line with my motto  ( "You appreciate it more if you make it yourself" ), I had to try to make one. It came out pretty good and works really well!
The bottom is a 1/8" steel plate cut out on the metal band saw. The plate is welded to a piece of 1/2" steel rod. The shaft is an old steel broom handle and the top end is a plug of white oak- cost was zero!

Cute! My back hurts just looking at it, though.

Yard work? I hate yard work!
Great work on your part however Jim!
thats because all you have is tumble weeds sand and rocks !

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Damn JJ... If I pulled all my weeds, I'd have no garden....

Perfect recyclable for our aging, balding members... and the mullet heads.

But for the serious weed users, where is the battery compartment.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Well, it looks "pretty good and works really well", but you need to make & install a wood handle so this post fits into the woodworking theme here.
Nice work, a great back saver.
Thanks for all the nice comments!

Hey Ducky........Tha is the beauty of it no electronics and no batteries!!!!!!!!!

Hi Tom, I posted it under metal working but it does have white oak end cap on top of the handle. I painted it green with the rest of it!! I used it on my compost pile and it  takes the weed out deep so the roots come along!!

Ya gotta have batteries... when one mentions weed, I immediately think of disco lights.
