Ten Wedge Dish

This is a project to try out my wedge sled that I made when I got back to Grand Rapids. I had to add another angle setting for this one as I did not have 36 degrees built into it. There are 5 walnut wedges and 5 pecan wedges. There  is not as much color difference as I expected from the 2 woods.  It is 12" diameter and 1 1/2" high and finished with Danish Oil and 3 stage buffed and waxed. The Danish oil darkened the pecan too much to make it too close in color to the walnut...but it came out okay!!

Super nice Jim, all joinery is very tight, no gaps.
More than ok - looks great to me!
Great dish, woods look.good to me.   Like it..

Nice Jim!
Just the grain difference will add some more contrast over time.

Did you do a 180 degree skim cut after gluing two halves or did you just nail the 36?
Either way, tight enough to turn and no leaks!
Nicely done!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

A very attractive plate/serving dish. Looks like the wedge sled is dialed in.
Thank you all for the nice comments.
Hi Bruce, I try to set all the angles at about  +0.1 degrees...never minus. On this one it was a little high on the outside edges of the halves and I did not want to send it through the jointer so I pulled out my jointer setup for the spindle sander and took a fuzz off and they were dead flat and I never touched the center.

I’d say you have they wedge sled dialed perfectly .

Hi Jim...Very clever Joints... Looks great.

Regards ...... Cliff,.

Like the jig...  bowl's  dish OK too.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Thanks, Cliff and Alex!!

Looks great Jim! Actually the two woods compliment each other nicely. It may not have been the look you were going for but nice anyway.
Thanks, Steve. I made the 5 pecan wedges at 40 degrees on my sled in Arizona. I don't know what I was thinking but I was going to make a 9 wedge sled with alternating woods,,  Duh! You need an even number to do that so after the sled was done, I had to add a 36 degree position!! There will be more wedge projects coming in the future!!

Cheers, Jim
