Mini Scroll Saw Boxes

McKinlee was over today and  came across my "world's smallest scroll saw box" that I made about 10 yrs ago. She wanted me to make her one. Well I have to make one for her Cousin, Mylah, too so these are what came out of it. My hands are not what they used to be so these are a bit larger. They are made from Rubber Tree wood. I made pulls out of black Corian but after a slight bump broke one, I switched to brass for the pulls One of the Corian ones is laying in front of the boxes in the 3rd shot. The last shot shows the scale of these to the original and to a dime! Tomorrow I'll let her pick the one she wants and then laser their names on them. They are finished with clear satin enamel.

Cute little boxes! I don't do little things like that at all. All my 2 pound hammer work has left my hands less than dexterous.

Great when you have an outlet (distribution) for your boxed creations....

Cute... I tried to be cute and the only boxes I get is from SWMBO around my ears.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

cute gift for little girl GR8 JOB 😍😎👍

Cute little boxes, Jim!

May you have the day you deserve!

Nicely done! Pretty wood too.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

I see a future making "nesting boxes"!
You could start with one, then push bigger/smaller until you either run out of wood on the large end or hit some quantum limit on the small end.

Just looking at your boxes causes me to curl my fingers into a fist and then count to see that they still add up to 10.

Thank you all for the nice comments. McKinlee picked the larger one, she typed in her name and we burned it in. She went off to school with it!!

Hi, Ryan. I have had this rubber tree wood for about 20 years. A neighbor  bought an imported  table made of rubber tree wood and I cut it up to make his counter tops out of it. It had these  1" x 3" aprons all the way around and I got to keep all that wood. I still have a few feet of it left!

Hi Nathan, it was working pretty close to the blade but I managed to avoid it. I don't know how I ever did that little one 10 years ago!!!!
