Charcuterie Set

Or as Kenny called it "made for charcutin"!

Anyhoo, Petey was the only one to comment on my use of several warped/knotty walnut slabs my SIL bought from a guy on the side of the road. Therefore, I copied him 🤠

Makes me think of seeing the belly of a carp on the aquarium glass.

This is both sides of the same slab:

Took the marked section (more of less) and wiggly-shaped a board, about 5/8" thick.
Air dried so it had some neat colors.
Due to the warping, I flattened the top surface and left the underbelly with most of the warp.

Tip o' the hat to Pottz for pointing out the brass feet, expensive, but I could recess them on the drill press so that the board would sit flat despite the warpage.

22"x 16"

I also use the shown side of the board for the top so no one would say it looks like Montana.
Finished with GF salad bowl finish. Could swear it is just Arm-R-All with a different label.

Along with this board, I had to use a charcuterie set my wife impulse-bought on Amazoo. It needed a box.

13.5" x 10" x 3"

Same slab gave up the lid. Finish is Osmo

Interior is divided for all the bits, felt lined on the bottom. Simple pin hinges from brass rod.

One of the white dishes had a chip so the asymmetry is Amazon's fault.
Everything still in the baggies so whoever buys it can be assured of "freshness"!

Thanks for looking/comments!

That's beautiful slice of wood.  Now you can start marring it up "charcutin".

Good looking board!    Box looks really fine also.

Splint,

You picked a great slice!

I like the "set" idea.

Well done.

Petey, made me think that this is a great use for figured stuff that may be used for food!
