Of all the commissions I have ever taken on, this particular project was probably the most challenging and is my favourite of the pieces I’ve made.
Shop made American black walnut veneer with walnut burr inlay and sapwood stringing for the top. The pedestals were turned on my father in law’s lathe, the first bit of turning I’d done since woodwork class circa 1986.
Fortunate to have a client who just said “I’ve bought an old house and I don’t want to fill it with modern furniture”, so this is what I designed and made for him. Did the unit in the background too.
That is impressive.
