This is sort of a follow up to the box I posted recently as I liked the shape of ithttps://woodworkingweb.com/creations/3122-terrace-ridge
but this box is made from a piece of red oak that had some black stains which made it useless for anything other then fire wood but it gave me some inspiration , a ebonized box . This is the result a box with seven degree tapered sides some corner detail and some shop made metal bling to brighten it up a bit .The interior contains a top suspended tray and both tray bottom and box bottom are fitted with a green suede liner . I used SOSS barrel hinges on this box which work very well . All wood parts are ebonized red oak except for the plywood bottoms .
The box size is 11” W x 6 1/2” D x 4 1/4” H
This is going into the annual Wood Workers Guild competition and if it does well I will donate it to a good cause to auction it of to raise some money .
Enjoy and comments and questions are always welcome and appreciated .

Another great design. That’s the way to make lemonade from lemons. It’s really beautiful.
Those Soss barrel hinges are a miracle cure for boxes. So much easier to work with than the regular style Soss hinge. The old ones require perfection alignment and it’s not easy. The small ones anyway. The big ones for full size doors are a little more forgiving.

“Tis” a true black beauty. Love the tapers as they give an oriental hint in my mind’s eye. Nice.
