Church kneeler

The congregation of a large United Methodist Church ask me to build a Kneeler for their retiring Associate pastor. This a look alike that I found on the web. It has 2 pads , one for knees and one for arms. I hate to see wasted space so I added a small storage area in the base. Made from cherry and Brazilian mahogany, with duck cloth for the pad covering. It has two coats of General Finishes Dark mahogany jell stain, two coats of general Finishes water based topcoat. Thank you for looking.

Looks great but only one problem. It’s not pious enough. You have to get rid of those cushions. :-)

That GF gel stain is something else. I only used it once a very long time ago. Thanks for reminding me how great it is. I’ll pick some up soon.

Storage is a really good idea too. I always say the best woodworking combines form and function.

Thank you Brian and you are right about those cushions but he is really old. :-). Jell stain is amazing. Get the pad saturated and it goes on really fast. Also the wood that normally spotches does not when I have used gel stain. Great stuff.
