Recently completed this kit for a fellow out in Alamo CA. He was kind enough to send me this photo of the finished product. I have been building these in kit form Since the fall of 2015, and have just short of 30 of them placed. It’s been quite a journey for me to be able to supply these for people interested in marquetry. I build them out of European Beech and follow the plan developed by Patrick Edwards of the American School of French Marquetry. My gratitude to Patrick for his guidance and support these past 5 years, and Jesse Hernandez who builds the specialty hardware. Along the way, we invested in a computer controlled router to aid in production and accuracy and this opened a whole new challenge, learning programming and operation. Added to this was converting the full size drawings to working drawings using sketchup, and developing the website using Wix. And lastly developing an instruction/assembly manual that goes with the kit. So what started out as a casual conversation with Patrick Edwards @ the “Woodworking in America” conference back in 2015 has sent me on a journey I would never have imagined in my wildest dreams ten years ago. It’s been fun, interesting, challenging — and rewarding.
