Dog Ramp

Our Neighbor has a classic Collie Dog that was injured and couldn't jump down from the bed.  So they were shopping for a ramp.  As this was a quite expensive dog, and was being trained as a hospital, nursing home therapy dog, we ended up drawing up a ramp that could be "reversed" to enable placing on either side of the bed.  Built from Beech and in knock down style this is what was decided on.  the basic structure is put together w/ Kreg screws and the side rails have dowels, enabling them to be removed and put on either side.  The end rail is permanent. We originally placed carpet on the ramp, but the dog would slip on the carpet, so it was changed out soon after delivery for a wide adhesive backed sandpaper covering.  They said it took about a week to get the dog comfortable with it, but she uses is regularly now.

Well designed and I'm sure much appreciated.  Hope the dog is doing better and back to therapy work.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Nice that you were able to help out. The piece is very attractive and I'm sure the pup appreciated the help once she got used to it.

Great idea. I could use one of those. I have two handicapped dogs so they would come in handy. However having them not wander all over the house at night prevents accidents.
Beautiful solution. The ability to switch sides is a nice feature. I am sure your neighbors really appreciated your work.
Nice build and design Dave. I built on for my dog before she passed away. Could never get used to stubbing my toe on it in the dark.

Yours design is much better than mine.

Nice Dave. Is that a stain finish or…?

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".
