Boot Cuffs

There are some beautiful boot cuffs out there waiting to be made so I thought I’d start out with something rather simple.
These have a short plain section that tucks into the boot and a lace part that folds over, covering the top of the boot. (I guess you could also flip it around and tuck the lace in and keep the other section on the outside.)

Yarn: Bernat Waverly “Sundrift” (180m … I don’t think I have enough left to do another pair, maybe just one)
Hook: 7mm

Pattern:

  • Chain: approx 35 (multiples of 5) plus 1 [the size is based on the measurement of the leg at the top of the boot]
  • Sc along the chain (35 stitches) and join to make a circle at the end.
  • Sc four more rows
  • Dc around one row
  • Sc three rows
  • Chain 4; DC in same stitch; chain 2 and 1 DC in same stitch… skip 3 stitches; 2 dc, chain 2, 1 dc in next stitch, skip 3 and repeat around….(you should end with the “skip 3” stitches before completing the circle)
  • slip stitch into the first of the 2Dc and then into the “chain 2”
  • 2 DC chain 2 and 1 DC into the chain 2 ; skip 3 stitches, 2 dc; chain 2; 1dc into next stitch and repeat around
  • repeat this row for a total of 5 rows of the “lace” that folds down over the boot top.
  • Finish off.
