I woke up to an email this morning from my daughter (on the day of a photo session she was having with the family) .. “I should have asked you to make a poncho for your granddaughter”.
Well… how could any grandmother let that statement pass without at least an attempt to fill the underlying request!
So, I went online to find a quick, easy, and free pattern. Found one, started crocheting but after several rounds it was obvious that it was going to be way too big.
Pattern number two, … it was going to be too complicated and time consuming. I only have a few hours.
Pattern number three … running out of time, still not good.
So I grabbed another ball of yarn, a BIG crochet hook and started putting together a scarf that could double as a shawl .. or something.
I will never be able to duplicate this pattern but when I get a moment I will try to decipher my “Pattern” and document it .. I think there are some good possibilities in there, with some fine-tuning.
Now.. do I have time to make a hat?
.
Yarn: Bernat Pipsqueak Lime … it took almost a full ball (120 yards) for the poncho and maybe half for the hat
Hook: 10mm
Button .. from my mother’s stash of antique buttons
.
(OOPS .. I haven’t posted a picture of that matching hat, yet*)
